Villa, is what they call here. It’s a 4 to 5 floor staff building. Located near the industrial city, with about 5 to 10 minutes away from the factory/office. Each floor accommodates 4 to5 rooms. Some room have 3 to 4 persons workers and others only 1 for staff.
I am only 1 in my room and it is located in the 5th floor. The room before me is the bath/CR area and the next of my room is where Mr. Rudy Alviar stays. Its good to be alone in the room for security, but sometimes room company can heal homesickness they said, and I thinks its true, because I stay alone, I have nobody to talk to. I sometimes stay to other staff rooms for a talk and some of them come to my room for a visit. I have some celpon pictures of my room located in my photo gallery. Have a look on it hehehe.

I signed the job contract that says food and housing is free. “This is great” I said. These are some of the good things that this offer is fine. I expect to have a great canteen in our office and a canteen in the accommodation with some healthy food. My first week in work was a also an adjustment period for adopting how can I eat properly and choose my kind of food. Haha..it is not what I expected hehehe..
When I arrived here in Riyadh, I was very welcome on my first day as Bernard waited me in the airport for almost 5 hours, due to new Passport method implemented in the immigration section in the airport (scanning of hands, fingers, and picture). As we proceed to Bernard’s home, we buy take out dinner on our way. Chicken restaurant was abundant in Riyadh, Pork is restricted in this Muslim City. I slept at Bernards Apartmnet on my first day.
On the next day after eating breakfast, I started my first day in job. Eating time during lunch, Bernard invited me to eat for lunch in the dining area. So this is what I didn’t expect, the food was being serve with a contracted catering party, the food served was in Indian, Pakistan, and Pilipino style, hehehe. Sandok sandok style. Choose what you like then eat on a tray with a plastic on top of it. The purpose for the plastic is to easily remove it after eating and throw it to the trash box. Most of the food prepared, as this a lunch routine to eat, was made of chicken, fish, beef and some veggies. Most of the time is chicken. The food was not as good as I expect to have, but due to stomach needs, you may swallow it as a remedy hehehe.
There is no water on the area served, that’s why Bernard offered to buy a can of soft drinks from the dispensing machine. Water dispenser is also located near the machine but you need to provide your own container or your own glass.

I brought my Globe SIM here and its roaming ready. I also brought my Nokia Celpon for the sim. I used chikka to text my contacts in Cebu, Philippines and they reply to my roaming Globe number. It only cost 1 peso to text to my globe roaming number, and its free to text them via internet activated free text to Chikka messenger. So, I am now very dependent to the internet for this setup hehehe. Hope that there would always be an internet around.
Thanks to the villa that it is already provided with internet connection as a small time business of Bernard with 600 riyal initial pay, and 70 riyals per month after 6 months. I used the wifi feature of the router intalled in the villa by Bernard. With internet connection, I can communicate with everyone using Skype, YM, Chikka text, emails, and everything provided by the internet. I can even continue my pending works when I was in Cebu for my freelance customers. Unfortunately, the speed connection in the Villa was too much worst if everybody is connected to the switch were online. Usually others will download a bulk files like movies and video streaming sites. Even Skype and YM will occasionally disconnect due to this traffics. But, anyway, it can ease homesickness for the moment.
There are some situation that internet connection in the Villa was disconnected due to non payment of bills..huhuhu.. At this time, I realized that the account used in this connection was not only Bernard was a group of people, hehehe, and bill payments was used to other personal needs than paying the current balance.
We have a very good internet connection in the office. With a Laptop provided by the company, I can personalized all my needs from the internet. If my boss is not around, I can also sneak for video chat with my baby at home via remote and watch her dance in the webcam.
